Florida SuperLawyers 2010 honors two Conwell Kirkpatrick Partners

The Tampa Bay Business Journal has recognized Conwell Kirkpatrick, P.A. as Tampa’s “go-to” firm for clients needing attorneys with intellectual property expertise.

G. Donovan Conwell, Jr. has been certified by The Florida Bar as a specialist in Civil Trial Law. Certification is the highest level of recognition given by The Florida Bar for competency and experience within an area of law. Board certification recognizes attorneys' special knowledge, skills and proficiency in various areas of law and professionalism and ethics in practice. To become certified in Civil Trial Law, a Florida lawyer must meet the Bar's rigorous requirements for experience, peer review, competence and continuing legal education in civil trial law.

G. Donovan Conwell Jr., one of the founding partners of Conwell Kirkpatrick, P.A., has been appointed by Henry M. Coxe, III, president of the Florida Bar, to the inaugural committee for Intellectual Property Law Certification for a three year term. Conwell was one of only nine attorneys in the State of Florida appointed to serve on this committee.

The designation marks the highest level of recognition by The Florida Bar of competency and experience in areas of law approved for certification by the Supreme Court of Florida. About 4,200 Florida lawyers are certified in 22 fields.

Florida litigation attorney G. Donovan Conwell (Don Conwell) and Ker's Winghouse, a fast growing restaurant chain founded by former NFL Dallas Cowboys football star, Crawford Ker, defeated Hooters' trade dress infringement lawsuit appeal last week, winning more than one million dollars in counterclaim damages against the prominent restaurant chain.

An Orlando jury awarded in excess of $20 million dollars to Sheik Ahmed Banafa, a Saudi Arabian businessman, for fraud, conversion, civil theft and breach of contract against Nasir Ashemimry, a Miami, Florida based investment manager, formerly of Saudi Arabia but now a U.S. citizen. After trebling the civil theft award, the final judgment against Ashemimry and his company, Ashetrust Investment Corp. will exceed $20 million.
